  • Mark Dice; "Cancel all 4th of July celebrations?"

Hmm. Well, mostly, I'm posting this to provoke some thought. The fourth is a very significant holiday, for us Americans. Every year I can I usually make it to the fireman's festival...they hold rides, bingo, yummy carnie food, as well as a demolition durby and fireworks...in support of the good folks who put out fires and save lives everyday...while we remember why we celebrate this holiday.

But, the times may not allow for things to be as they've always been for me growing up. The last few years we've seen alot of bad come out of our society and government, leaning toward fascism (and our country is not alone in this trend). This year more than ever have people begun to see this and try to do something about it. More than ever in our lifetimes.

So, do you think you'll always have a reason to celebrate?

I always will, even if there are no more celebrations someday (hey, I'm not ALL knowing to know such things for sure). We'll always be free, if only in spirit. And I will always honor those who've fallen before us. That's reason enough for me.

For me celebrating fourth of July has changed. I can no longer pledge
allegiance to the flag because i disagree with our leaders and this
police state that is forming. We are no longer one nation or under God,
that would be a lie to say it. As for the republic for which it
stands... which it stood would be more fitting. We have shown that we
are indeed divisible and that liberty and justice are not for all,
    mostly just for the rich.

I can no longer sing this countries songs or fly a flag to honor it.
It's sad. I hope things change. I am more patriotic than most people
you will meet and do more to preserve what little we have left than
most people you will meet but i can't pretend that everything is
alright. I can't lie about the truth of what our country now is.
Will i celebrate fourth of July? yeah, but not for what it stands for, more just a reason to see old friends and eat some good bbq an maybe have a beer or 2. I'm prolly a dush for doing that much but oh well.

And not even actually true justice for them.

I hope you enjoy your holiday with friends, dearie -- it's not a bad thing to not find a holiday as fulfilling or enjoyable anymore but to celebrate it solely for the company of people you heart.
